چکیده

The strongest reaction for AP in both active and quiescent follicles was seen in the dermal papillae (Figs. 1 and 2), occasionally in the upper part only. The presence of AP in this region (Table 1), particularly during the active phase of hair growth, has now been reported in many species, suggesting that it plays an important role in hair growth. The blood vessels within the dermal papillae of active follicles, which range from single capillary loops (Fig. 3) to complex networks, were also reactive for this enzyme. AP in the matrix region of the bulb was usually demonstrated on only one side of the bulb (Figs. 1—3). Although this asymmetric distribution of AP was present in follicles from various body regions (Table I), it occurred mcst frequently in samples from the flank. In contrast, neither of the adjacent sites (the flauk-inguen junction and the inguen)

Histochemical Studies On the Peyer’s Patches of Sheep (Ovis aries)

Tissue pieces of jejunum and ileum from different prenatal and postnatal age groups of sheep were collected from Corporation slaughter house, Perambur, Chennai. The goblet cells in the villous epithelium were positive for Periodic acid Schiff (PAS) but the negative reaction was observed in the follicle-associated epithelium as the goblet cells were absent. The follicleassociated epithelium show...

Micrometrical Studies on the Hair Follicles at Different Areas of Skin in Iranian Lambs

In this study, all the hairs and their follicles characteristics of Iranian Bakhtiari sheep were investigated. A total of 48 healthy Bakhtiari sheep (aged 5-8 months) were selected and categorized on the basis of sex (24 females and 24 males). Samples were taken as small pieces from different regions of the skin, fixed and stained with haematoxylin and eosin. The following indices in each piece...

Distribution of prolactin receptor immunoreactivity in ovine skin and changes during the wool follicle growth cycle.

Prolactin is believed to mediate seasonal cues entraining seasonal reproductive and hair follicle growth cycles. Prolactin receptor binding activity and prolactin receptor gene expression in mammalian skin have recently been described. In this report, prolactin receptor immunoreactivity is identified in sheep skin using a monoclonal antibody against the rat liver prolactin receptor. Western blo...

Characterization of the Promoter Regions of Two Sheep Keratin-Associated Protein Genes for Hair Cortex-Specific Expression

The keratin-associated proteins (KAPs) are the structural proteins of hair fibers and are thought to play an important role in determining the physical properties of hair fibers. These proteins are activated in a striking sequential and spatial pattern in the keratinocytes of hair fibers. Thus, it is important to elucidate the mechanism that underlies the specific transcriptional activity of th...

De novo assembly and characterization of skin transcriptome using RNAseq in sheep (Ovis aries).

Wool is produced via synthetic processes of wool follicles, which are embedded in the skin of sheep. The development of new-generation sequencing and RNA sequencing provides new approaches that may elucidate the molecular regulation mechanism of wool follicle development and facilitate enhanced selection for wool traits through gene-assisted selection or targeted gene manipulation. We performed...
